Different Grass Land Climates
Temperate Grasslands ClimateHere is a Graph showing Temperature and Rainfall in a Temperate Grassland
Temperate grasslands have hot summers and cold winters. The Summer temperatures can be over 37 degrees, while winter temperatures get to as low as -40 degrees. They usually have between 10 and 35 inches of rain a year, much of it happening in the spring and early summer. Snow often is a reservoir of moisture, reserved for the growing season. Droughts and occasional fires help upkeep the grasslands. |

These Tropical grasslands can be found in tropical wet and dry climates. These areas are extremely hot year-round, usually never going below 17 degrees. These areas are overall very dry areas, they do have a season of heavy rainfall. The Annual rain is from 20-50 inches every year. It is important in this grasslands that the rainfall is concentrated in about six or eight months of the year. This is needed to be followed by a long period of drought, when some fires will occur. If Rain is well spread during year, many areas will tropical forest. |
How does Latitude Effect Specific Climate Features?
Latitude Effects the climate of such biomes. Places located at high latitude [far away from the equator], will receive less sunlight then places at a low latitude. Sunlight and the amount of precipitation affects types of plants and animals. These Grasslands are generally found outside other biomes. This is because they're too dry to be a forest and too wet for deserts.
